Pasta with Italian Sausage and Spicy Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 300g pasta (your choice)
- 200g Italian sausage, casings removed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Remove the casing from the Italian sausage and add it to the skillet. Cook until browned and crumbled.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine. Add the red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Once the sauce is ready, toss the cooked pasta in the skillet until well coated.
