Kunafa with Shrimp
Kunafa with shrimp is a delectable twist on the traditional Arabic dessert. This savory dish combines the crispy texture of kunafa with the rich flavors of shrimp, making it a unique culinary experience that will surely delight your taste buds.
Ingredients
- 500g kunafa dough
- 300g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 100g butter, melted
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a skillet, melt half of the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and bell pepper, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the shrimp along with paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Take half of the kunafa dough and shred it into smaller pieces. Mix it with the remaining melted butter until fully coated.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the buttery kunafa on the bottom. Spread the shrimp mixture evenly over this layer.
- Top it with the remaining kunafa dough, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley, slice into pieces, and serve warm.
